Telford’s Member of Parliament, Shaun Davies, welcomed residents to a well-attended community drop-in event today at the Coalbrookdale and Ironbridge Community Centre. This was the third in a series of coffee events, following events in Lawley and Madeley.
The event, held from 1pm to 4pm, gave local people the opportunity to speak directly with their MP, raise concerns, share ideas, and access support from a range of local organisations. It forms part of Shaun Davies ongoing series of community surgeries and informal coffee events aimed at ensuring that residents across Telford have a voice in Parliament and feel supported on the issues that matter to them.
Residents came together to discuss a wide range of topics, including housing, healthcare, policing and local public services. They were joined by key local partners including West Mercia Police, The Wrekin Housing Group, Telford & Wrekin Council, Telford Mind, and others, who were on hand to offer guidance and support.
Shaun Davies MP said: “Thank you to everyone who took the time to come and meet me today. One year ago, I promised to work hard and stand up for Telford at every opportunity – that commitment remains at the heart of everything I do. These events are crucial for listening directly to residents and taking their concerns back to Westminster. The work is far from over, and there’s still so much more we need to deliver together.”
Adrian, from Telford Mind, commented “A really busy event, a lot of people have come out. It’s a great networking event, and a chance to support residents. Shaun is a great advocate and great support for Telford Mind and the Armed Forces Community.”
John Williamson, resident from Ironbridge added “Shaun’s advice is very helpful, he is very insightful. If you have any problems in your local area, he’s the chap to speak to. If you have anything to voice, it is a great platform.”
Karen and Patricia McCormack, both Telford resident’s, also added “He’s had our back, and he’s backed us every step of the way. He’s investigated into our case and reassured us at every chance.”
Since being elected, Shaun has supported over 5,500 constituents and has spoken in Parliament more than any previous Telford MP in a single year. His focus remains on delivering local priorities such as improving healthcare services, strengthening flood defences, enhancing neighbourhood policing and upgrading Telford’s roads and local transport to ensure people living and working in Telford feel the benefit.
This is Shaun’s 11th resident event since he became MP for Telford in July 2024. Shaun has visited Oakengates, Madeley, Dawley, Ketley, Lawley, Wrockwardine Wood and Woodside so far during weekends, evenings and during school holidays as well as hosting online and telephone surgeries for people to make the sessions more convenient.
